Retail Marketing Tips for 2016

As the retail  industry becomes more digital, it can be discouraging to see days where there is less foot traffic in your store. As this reduces sales, its is important to reevaluate your marketing plan and set a new strategy into action. While you want to be sure to have the best NY Retail Store Insurance available to protect your operations, here are some marketing tips to consider for your store. Draw People In One of the most important things to do is give people a reason to enter your store. Try having special events and putting coupons on your website that they can redeem in the store. Make Your Customer’s Experience Memorable We’ve gone from an economy based on scarcity to one of over abundance of goods. Your customers can get what they want elsewhere. Therefore, make a point to give your customers a memorable experience that will keep them coming back. Research Owning a business requires constant research. Research your past sales to see what worked and what didn’t. Investigate your competition and their customers to see what methods they are using, as well. Further, research selling techniques to help you improve your sales. This should be an ongoing process to keep up with competitors and improve profits year-round. Local Relevance Get involved in the community. This creates opportunities to help in outreach programs and will also market your store. “Shoppertainment” Hold events each month that draw in customers in a fun and exciting way. For example, major events such as fashion shows help to pack your store with foot traffic. However, they do take some time to plan. Or, hold minor events like classes or demonstrations and draw people in with little planning time. Be sure to keep in mind that any event you plan needs to draw in customers and entice them to purchase items. Online Tools Because the majority of shoppers use online tools to pre-shop, arm your business with a website that is easy to navigate and rich with information on the products that you provide. At A.J. Benet Inc., we know how important marketing is to…

Keeping Retail Stores Safe

As a retail store owner or manager, you know that having a clean and safe place for your employees and your customers is critical to your business. While you want to make sure you have the best New York Retail Store Insurance to cover you in the event of any emergencies, there are a few things to keep in mind in order to ensure your store safe for everyone. Fire Hazards An abundance of possible fire hazards can be found in retail stores from the exposed wires of light fixtures or computers to improper storage of chemicals in a back room. You should always ensure that employees are trained in fire safety procedures in the event that any fires do break out. Air Quality Many retail stores are located inside other buildings such as malls, and may not contain direct access to fresh outdoor air. To help avoid buildup of any bacteria, or fungus that can grow without proper circulation of fresh air, mechanical air systems should be installed and regularly inspected to make sure they are functioning properly. Lighting While low lighting may create the desired atmosphere in your store, it can lead to accidents or injuries should an employee or customer not be able to see something on the floor that may cause them to trip. It is important that lighting allows for visibility throughout the front of the store and the backrooms. Natural Disasters Whether you are located in an earthquake zone and need to ensure shelving and products cannot fall if there is ground movement, or in a tornado zone where you may consider a safe basement in the event customers or employees cannot leave, you want to ensure that you are taking proper safety measures in the event of a natural disaster. Ergonomics While a petite person may have the enthusiasm you are looking for, hiring them to lift heavy boxes for an entire shift may not be as ergonomically practical as hiring someone with a larger stature. Be sure to factor job requirements with capabilities when hiring to avoid injuries. Employee Training There are a variety of emergencies that can occur in a store that can be prevented or reduced in severity if your employees are trained on how to handle them. For example, having an employee regularly check the floors for any spills or…
