New York Business Insurance: Instagram Marketing Tips

You’ve most likely hear of its pricy acquisition (1 billion) by Facebook. You probably even use it yourself. But how do you leverage Instagram for your business? Does your business have the proper New York Business Insurance plan?

40 of the top 100 brands are on Instagram. While they still have a long way to go (compared to Facebook’s 98% and Twitter’s 94%), their progress is still great for a fledgling company.

One example is the retailer Free People, who used Instagram to engage customers and host a photo sharing contest. They asked their customers to provide photographs of themselves wearing the brand’s products. They got some free marketing from enthusiastic fans and insight into their more popular items. It also turned into a resource for shoppers, as they can see how a certain product fits on a wide variety of body types.

“Lots of e-commerce customers end up not buying a product because they’re not sure how the product is going to fit after they make the purchase,” Jose de Cabo, cofounder of Olapic (the social photo crowdsourcing start-up helping the back end of the campaign), told Mashable. “It also shows they have a super hip engaged customer base.”

Instagram is not only its own social sharing site, it allows you to instantly share it across a multitude of social media platforms including Facebook, Tumblr, Foursquare, and Twitter. The visual nature of Instagram makes it a great option for a wide variety of New York Business industries from retail, caterers, florists and yacht clubs to restaurants and travel agents.

Make sure when you’re marketing your business, you post a wide variety of subjects. Don’t focus constantly on branding your company- followers will be turned off if the marketing strategy is too in-your-face. Hashtag all photos- they work the same as in Twitter, and the hashtags carry across the social media platforms. And finally, don’t get lazy with your Instagramming. Just as you need to regularly update Facebook and Twitter, you need to commit to Instagram often in order to build a viable social media campaign.
